<p>This method is very similar to the paperclip and bobby pin methods, but it&#8217;s a little easier because you don&#8217;t have to worry about breaking the tool.</p>



<p>I have used it with varying levels of success. Sometimes it works like a charm, and other times it doesn&#8217;t work at all. The difference between successful attempts and failures often has to do with the type of lock.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>4. Knife</h2>



<p>A knife is an excellent tool for picking a car lock because it&#8217;s strong. However, it&#8217;s also the most dangerous option, so use it with caution.</p>



<p>Here is a step by step guide on how to use a knife to pick a car lock:</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li>Take the knife and insert it into the keyhole.</li>



<li>Wiggle the knife around until you feel the tumblers inside the lock begin to move.</li>



<li>Once the tumblers move, turn the knife to the left or right (depending on which way the lock opens) and apply pressure.</li>



<li>The lock should now open.</li>
</ol>



<p>Finding a knife that fits into the keyhole is the real challenge here, so you may need to try a few different blades before finding one that works. You also risk damaging the lock if you use too much force, so be careful.</p>



<p>Of course, there are specialty knives are made for picking locks, but any strong knife will work in a pinch. Just remember to use caution.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>5. Credit Card</h2>



<p>If you&#8217;re in a bind and need to get into your car quickly, two credit cards can help you pick the lock. However, you need to be careful not to damage the cards.</p>



<p>Here is a step by step guide on how to use credit cards to pick a car lock:</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li>Take a credit card and slip it into the space between the door and the frame.</li>



<li>Try to wedge the card in as far as possible.</li>



<li>Take a second credit card and insert it into the space next to the first card.</li>



<li>Again, try to wedge this card in as far as possible.</li>



<li>Use your two credit cards to apply pressure to the locking mechanism.</li>



<li>You should feel the mechanism start to give way.</li>



<li>Once you&#8217;ve pushed the mechanism far enough, the door should open.</li>
</ol>



<p>The best part about this method is that it won&#8217;t damage your car door. However, it can be challenging if you don&#8217;t have two credit cards handy.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>6. Hanger</h2>



<p>Who would have thought that a humble hanger could be used to pick a car lock, and that it is actually very effective?</p>



<p>Here is how to use a hanger to pick a car lock:</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li>Take a hanger and straighten it out as much as possible.</li>



<li>Make a small hook at one end of the hanger.</li>



<li>Insert the hanger in the space between the window and the door.</li>



<li>Try to hook the end of the hanger around the locking mechanism.</li>



<li>Pull up on the hanger and this will unlock the door.</li>
</ol>



<p>With this simple technique, you can easily unlock a car door without any damage. The problem is that a hanger is not always available when you need it, so this will only work in a residential situation or if you are in a position to purchase one. However, it is still a good emergency technique to know.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>7. Slim Jim</h2>



<p>This one works similarly to the credit card method, but you&#8217;ll need a special tool called a Slim Jim. This is a long, thin piece of metal designed to slide between the door and the frame.</p>



<p>Once you&#8217;ve inserted the Slim Jim into the space between the door and the frame, you&#8217;ll need to wiggle it until you find the locking mechanism. Once you&#8217;ve seen it, apply pressure and slide the Slim Jim until the door pops open.</p>



<p>This method can be challenging if you&#8217;re not familiar with it, so it&#8217;s best to practice on an old car door before trying it on your car. However, once you get the hang of it, it&#8217;s a quick and easy way to pick a lock.</p>

<p>If you are serious about learning how to pick a lock, you need a good-quality lock pick set. Many different brands and types of lock pick sets are available on the market, so do your research and find a set that fits your budget and needs.</p>



<p>My favorite brand of lock pick set is the Southord Lock Pick Set. This set comes with a variety of different picks and tension tools and a comprehensive instruction booklet.</p>



<p>Here&#8217;s how to get started:</p>



<ol class="wp-block-list" type="1">
<li>Start by inserting the tension wrench into the bottom of the keyway and applying light pressure.</li>



<li>Next, insert the pick of your choice into the keyway and start feeling for the pins. When you feel a pin, apply a little pressure to it with the pick and continue holding the tension wrench.</li>



<li>After that, use the pick to push the pin until it reaches the shear line. You will know the pin is in the correct position when you can feel it click into place.</li>



<li>Repeat this process for each pin until you can turn the plug and open the lock.</li>
</ol>



<p>With a bit of practice, you&#8217;ll be able to pick just about any lock you come across! Just remember to remain within the confine of the law when using your lock-pick set.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>9. Auto Jigglers</h2>



<p>This is a special type of lock pick designed explicitly for car locks. Auto jigglers are long, thin pieces of metal with teeth on one end. They&#8217;re inserted into the keyhole and then wiggled around until all the tumblers go to the open position.</p>



<p>Using an auto jiggler is pretty easy, even for a total beginner. The only thing I dislike about auto jigglers is that they can be challenging to control. If you&#8217;re not careful, you can easily damage the locking mechanism.</p>



<p>But overall, auto jigglers are a great tool for picking car locks.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>10. TOY 43 (2-in-1 Lock Pick)</h2>



<p>This specialty tool is a must-have for any professional or aspiring lock picker. The TOY 43 is a 2-in-1 tool used as both a tension wrench and a lock pick. It&#8217;s made of high-quality stainless steel and comes with a comprehensive instruction booklet.</p>



<p>The TOY 43 is my go-to tool for picking car locks. It&#8217;s small enough to fit in your pocket but strong enough to get the job done. And best of all, it&#8217;s affordable.</p>



<p>To use this tool, simply insert the tension wrench into the bottom of the keyway and apply light pressure. Next, lift the cover to reveal the two lock picks then feel for the pins. Then apply a little pressure to it with the pick and continue holding the tension wrench.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>11. Hook Picks</h2>



<p>This tool looks like a screwdriver, complete with a handle and a shaft, but instead of a metal bit on the end, there&#8217;s a small hook. The hook picks the lock open by moving the pins up or down.</p>



<p>To use this tool, insert the shaft into the keyway and apply pressure with the handle. Next, insert the hook pick into the keyway and feel for the pins. When you find a pin, use the hook to move it up or down until it reaches the shear line.</p>



<p>You will know the pin is in the correct position when you can feel it click into place. Repeat this process for each pin until you can turn the plug and open the lock.</p>

<p>However, most of these movies showed older cars that had fewer digital components that might seem like they would be easier to manipulate.</p>



<p>Unfortunately, while digital odometers are harder to roll back, it’s not impossible.</p>



<p>It’s possible to roll back or otherwise tamper with a digital odometer if someone is able to get access to the car’s circuit board or computer. Unless you have special cables and software, this is difficult to do, but it’s not impossible.</p>



<p>A modern car’s circuit board is its internal computer. If any dashboard lights turn on, like the <span style="text-decoration: underline"><a href="https://carroar.com/check-engine-light/">check engine light</a></span>, that’s usually due to a signal from the circuit board.</p>



<p>This is also the part of the car that keeps track of the number of miles/kilometers a vehicle has traveled.&nbsp;</p>



<p>If the circuit board is removed and connected to a computer, it can be “hacked” and reprogrammed or reset. That means that someone could artificially zero out the odometer.</p>

<p>A car’s odometer will often be rolled back to make a vehicle seem like it’s been <span style="text-decoration: underline"><a href="https://carroar.com/good-mileage-for-used-car/">used less than it has</a></span>. A car with fewer miles/kilometers will typically be worth more as it’s undergone less wear and tear from the road and is considered to be more “pristine.”</p>



<p>There are multiple reasons why someone might wish to make a car seem like it’s been used less than it has in reality.</p>



<p>Someone may roll back a car’s odometer in order to get more money when they sell the vehicle. A vehicle with a lower odometer number will likely have fewer problems that naturally come up when a car is used often, which will lower its value overall.</p>



<p>For example, someone would be much less likely to pay the same amount for a car with over 100-thousand miles (almost 161-thousand kilometers) as they would for a car with 40-thousand miles (almost 64.5-thousand kilometers) because they expect a car that’s traveled more to be closer to the end of its life. This is especially the case when one would expect to drive in harsh weather conditions, which tend to cause cars to break-down faster.</p>



<p>Someone may also try to roll back their car’s odometer to get more credit when they trade in their vehicle at a dealership for a similar reason.</p>



<p>Since a car with fewer miles/kilometers is typically valued higher than a car with more miles/kilometers, rolling back the odometer before trading it in can lead to paying less out of pocket for another vehicle. This is especially true at a smaller, unbranded dealership that may not have an on-staff mechanic and when the car itself doesn’t have many other issues.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><a></a>Are You Allowed To Roll Back a Digital Odometer?</h2>



<p>Suppose you’ve figured out how to hook up to your car’s circuit board. You might wonder if tampering with odometers is legal.</p>



<p>You’re not allowed to roll back an odometer. In the US, rolling back a car’s odometer is a federal crime. It’s called odometer fraud, and getting caught doing this carries a risk of $10,000 in fines, three years in prison, and damages to be paid to anyone you might have victimized in the process.</p>

<p>A muffler delete simply involves removing the muffler. But what’s the truth; what will putting sugar in a gas tank <em>really</em> do to your car?</p>



<p>If you put sugar into your gas tank, it probably won’t do much to harm your car right away. Gasoline is a refined liquid made up of only single bonds between atoms. The sugar you put in your tank has multiple bonds between atoms and is not as easily broken down.</p>



<p>This blog will explain why sugar doesn’t do as much harm to your engine as most people seem to think. It will also outline precisely what you can and can&#8217;t add to your fuel mixture and how these different things could affect your car&#8217;s performance. Keep reading to learn more.</p>

<p>Most gasoline is a blend of two hydrocarbon molecules—paraffin and olefins.</p>



<p>Paraffin is easier to ignite and produces a hotter flame as it burns, making it ideal for gasoline engines.</p>



<p>Olefins don&#8217;t burn quite as well but have superior lubricating properties. As a result, most gasoline contains anywhere from 5% to 10% olefin molecules.</p>



<p>Both paraffin and olefin molecules contain carbon-to-carbon bonds of a simple construct. Any other additive will not be able to be broken down when left in a mixture of fuel.</p>

<p>Sugar in the gas tank is a well-known urban legend. The idea is that if you put sugar in your car&#8217;s gas tank, it will cause your engine to seize up.</p>



<p>Your car probably won’t stop working if you spill sugar into the gas tank. While it might not be ideal for the engine, it shouldn’t outright seize. That would happen only if you put the sugar into the gas tank and then didn’t start the engine again for several months or years.</p>

<p>When you put sugar in your gas tank, it will probably clog your fuel filter faster than if you had just let the sediment build up naturally.</p>



<p>In a fuel filter, sugar will stick to the surface of the filter element and provide a breeding ground for microbes. As they grow, they will clog the pores in the filter media until they can no longer remove contaminants from the fuel. This will eventually starve the engine of energy and cause it to stall or run poorly.</p>

<p>The carburetor would just spray it into the air intake along with everything else, and you would be none the wiser.</p>



<p>Today, however, most vehicles are fuel injected, so there isn&#8217;t as much gas sprayed into the air intake to mix with everything else.</p>



<p>On top of this, newer vehicles are designed to run on less fuel than older cars. As a result, the mixture of gasoline and air has to be carefully calculated by computers inside the engine itself.</p>



<p>If your vehicle is brand new, the chances are excellent that you have an onboard computer adjusting the mixture all the time to make sure that it&#8217;s just suitable for your engine&#8217;s needs.</p>
